awesome Matt!!! I'm really happy you like your strop!.. hehe one of the comments I get the most is precisely that about the thickness! so thin, you need to get used to it.. but when foks run a really smiley blade over itsay an SK2 or even SK1... they are amazed hot the leather seems to adjust to the razor so well... plus, being this think it's just very iteresting hor hard it feels :P
thanks for your comment and i hope you put it to hard use my friend!honing my mind...

Thanked: 1Well, I just received mine yesterday and its .... awesome!!!! its beautifully done, and even thought (as many others say) my 1st impression was - huuh - this leather is how thin, it proved to do a great work
The communication with Gabe from A-Z was top notch, really nothing more one can ask for.
My 2 cents worth, get yourself one, you wont regret it!

Got my Kangaroo strop from Gabe today, and it's great. Super nice workmanship, great box and expert packing. On par with my Tony Miller or Scrupleworks strops, so way up there in quality.
Of course, I had to try it out immediately. Very unusual. Very smooth, but enough texture to provide good feedback, both in feel and sound. It looks a bit like steerhide or horsehide but thinner and more flexible (but not stretchy at all), and feels more like good Latigo or Horween with really nice draw that gets really intense when you get it warmed up and going. It's not really like anything I've ever used before, but I like it a lot. And it strops up a wicked, wicked edge!
I can tell I'll be using this a lot going forward, and my strop rotation has been altered to fit the new Kangaroo in at the top.

That kangaroo hide is odd, I agree. I don't have one of Gabes but I have an SRD. Very thin to the point you would think it would stretch but no way. It ain't stretching!
It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 14I have been using the kangaroo strop for a week now. Very happy with it, it is different from my other strops, the feel is closest to my Mastro Livi. This is definitely a keeper and will be among my favorites with my Livi and Tony Miller.
The second strop is fireshose, which is my preference for pre-stroping and drying the edge after my shave.
Well done Gabe!

Usually my stropsare wither roo and cotton in 3" or roo and firenose in 2 1/2 inches. I had never done a 3" roo with vintage linen firehose cause it's 1/2" difference, but my friend Ken assured he wanted the functionality of this combo over any aesthetics i could be worried about and convinced me to make this for him, i must say it came out better looking than i expected:

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread. Been researching a new strop for a while. Got a bit excited by how sweet these look.Last edited by Rog; 02-26-2020 at 10:56 AM.
