So...Is that a Livi loom strop, Paul?

Yes, it is. I don't know if that is the original application of CrOx, by Mastro Livi,
but by the time I got it, it had way too much paste...cracked, lumpy, useless.

Not to mention if they had that much on there, who knows if it was actually of a pure consistency. Best to get off what you can.

THAT is a Crox strop allright.
Some tell me the Livi Loom strops are packed. Never held one.

Yeah, sacrifice some paper towels and rags. Seems a lot to me.

    Nice pics!

Adversely, I use Balsa as a CroOx strop.
I pasted it once (powder CroOx)...A decade ago.
    Lots have been across it.
Never repasted. you cannot hardly get a green fingertip rubbing the middle. The stuff is pressed into the balsa.
On the ends and out of the stropping zone you still can.
Works lighter and better as it goes, IMO.

Yep, packed is putting it lightly. I had to use WD-40 to remove the CrOx from mine. Once I did that and lightly coated it again, HOW SWEET IT IS!

Livi recommends lighter fluid for cleaning the leather. Did you try that on the CrOx
or did you go to WD-40 first?

I actually went with the WD-40 first. Even though the WD-40 is a solvent, I assumed it was better than lighter fluid. As soon as the WD-40 dissipated or was absorbed, I put a coat of neatsfoot oil down. That was about a year ago and I'm happy to say, this strop is producing excellent results. I love this thing!

I'm confused....Are you talking about removing CrOx from a leather strop,
or did you use WD-40 and neatsfoot oil on a fabric strop?

The strop I've been working on is fabric, heavily coated with CrOx, not leather.

Looking at the subject, I don't think WD out of line. It does go away after a while.
Neetsfoot could mean the use of a powder mixed with an oil to apply with.
    Anyhoo...Less could be best sometimes!
