Thanked: 530SRD Premium I, or Premium III
So, it's that time of the year again, Time to add a new strop to my rotation (Strops seem to be the AD I've settled on... Somewhat more affordable than razors, thank God) I was planning on going with the Premium II, but that isn't available anymore...
Now I'm trying to pick between the Premium I, described as a medium strength, "elegant" draw (medium as in between Horsehide, and Latigo) and the Premium III has a VERY heavy draw (I am fond of heavy[er] draws, but never tried a superheavy...)
Also, Maybe the SRD Black Latigo... But I already have a TM Red Latigo, so I was avoiding the Latigos for now...
If it helps at all, my current strop collection is a Tony Miller Red Latigo and Linen (The linen is in the mail), a TM Horsehide and Nylon, an SRD Bridle and Webbed Fabric, and a hybrid TM Wool Felt/SRD Webbed Fabric (Respectively Diamond sprayed, and crox'ed. This is my touchup/post honing strop).
Also, I'm thinking of putting Herringbone Weave on the new SRD one... Since I already have both a TM webbed fabric, and an SRD webbed fabric... Is the Herringbone Weave (to those of you who have used it) similar to Linen, IE rough and lightly abrasive, or is it more akin to cotton, and just a smooth jack-of-all-trades.
Thanks, guys!
Cheers,
Jeremy

I can't speak for the Premium I, or any of the other strops that you have, but I did get a Premium III for myself. I love it, and there is a lot of draw to it if that's your thing. But, really, I don't think you can go wrong with much of anything from SRD as the "quality control" is top notch! Just my $.02.

Thanked: 530Yep, I know their gear is amazing, I just can't pick between High quality standard strop, and High quality high draw strop...
Decisions decisions...
Know anything about the Herringbone?

Thanked: 530Also, can anyone better explain the draw on the Premium I, if you have one/have used one?

Another Premium 3 user here--loads of draw but very "soft" feeling if that makes any sense (not sure it does even to me.)
The draw also increases as you go due to friction heating, so much so that you sort of have to be careful. I watch my speed on this one. The leather is a little thin, so nicks could be an issue if you did manage. Produces great results & a very nice looking strop! If you like draw, go for it; you won't be disappointed!

Thanked: 530I think I'll go with the III, then... If worst comes to worst, I can always just buy a I in the future...

I have a Premium I. It has a medium draw. More than TM Horse and less than latigo. I dislike strops that have excessive draw, or draw that varies across the surface, or draw that varies with humidity and temperature. The Premium I is vey consistent.

Thanked: 530Thanks, Matt, I talked to Mr. Abrams, and he recommended the Premium I, too, since the Bridle has a very refined draw, which pulls just a tad more than Latigo, but is more... I dunno... Velvety? And the Premium I pulls less than Latigo, or bridle, and feels like a thouroughly broken in Horsehide -If I understand correctly-, which means it would make a perfect finishing strop.
Premium I it is!
Thanks guys!

Thanked: 530Well, I Love my Latigo, and I love my Bridle, and I love my Horsehide.. My bridle is like a bit heavier latigo, with a lighter feel... if that makes sense.. It draws harder, but feels smoother... And the Premium I should compliment that great!
Thanks again
