Thanks for the videos, I am going to purchase the Premium IV now after a few days of trying to fight the SAD.

    You can't fight it

Go with the Premium IV, then the Premium I, then the modular paddle with the Premium IV and I... Then a Kanayama, then a Livi paddle, then....

    Oh crap >.<

All this talk is making me open a new tab (SRD!)... Resistance won't last much longer... Should go well w/ my new "Les Latneuses" coticule!

You can't go wrong with that coticule and a SRD strop!

But you need to decide between Bridle, Premium I or Modular Paddle!!

The hell with it.. Get all three!

Premium III : Draw. Lots of draw. Lots and lots and lots of draw.

Premium IV : Perfect. Just perfect. It has a draw that is very smooth and velvety, right in between Horsehide and Latigo.

IMO: Premium IV + Premium I = Best stropping setup ever.

    Any other questions?

(All this information is thanks to Lynn letting me play with his strops, and my experience on my strops)

EDIT: From LEAST draw to MOST draw: Premium II < Premium I < Premium IV < Premium III

The III Had too much for me, it just pulled the razor too hard. The premium II has too slick of a surface, not enough draw. The IV is PERFECTLY at the bottom of my preferred draw, and the I is PERFECTLY at the top of my draw preference
    This is a great write-up.
    Where does Latigo fit in?

Latigo fits in between Premium IV and Premium III, closer to the IV (Bridle). It's more of a workhorse, and has the right amount of draw for every day stropping. To me, Latigo is -no offense to those who use it- discount Bridle. It has /almost/ (but not quite) the same results as bridle, but feels stiffer, more glazed, unless fully and properly broken in... And, no matter how broken in, it doesn't have that same "velvet" draw that makes me love the bridle so much.

Man, I love how people come to me with these questions... I've never been an "authority" on something before. This place is great

    Cheers,
    Jeremy

The only ones I've tried of the SRD stops are the latigo and the premium 1. The premium 1 has the perfect draw for my hand of any strop I've ever tried.. I am still very intrigued by the long bridle and if I was going to get another strop ..... correction ..... when I get another strop ... that will be the one.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
