Fabric & leather for me too.
I've read the fabric is unnecessary for the first stropping after honing but I always use something before leather sometimes felt sometimes linen.
Some good info here: http://straightrazorpalace.com/strop...=linen+leatherThe white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

Thanked: 993Definitely fabric and leather. Sometimes wool felt (no CrOx) and leather. I like the feeling of the hard wool felt on my SRD premium I.
50 fabric
50 leather
sometimes i also just like the feeling of the Premium I, and (sheepishly) I'll do 100 leather, just because it feels good.

I also read/saw a vid where the fabric will remove loose particles from the blade, produced during honing, so as to not contaminate the strop.
There are almost as many different fabric types as there are hone types eh? I'll have to read up more on this.Last edited by rostfrei; 09-17-2010 at 03:01 AM.
