    Default Post Office Killing Me

I ordered my new strop from SRP last Sunday and they shipped it at 10 the next morning. Great! I live just over 3 hours from Medina, where SRP is located and according to the USPS tracking number it was to be delivered 2 days ago. Still don't have it and USPS site still says it is on its way to the sorting facility. Things like this drive me crazy and stress me out. I'm getting antsy, I neeeed my new strop!

I HATE USPS!!! Uuugh!!! After months of searching i found and I ordered special parts for one of the Gorton Panograph Engravers I have in my shop. These things have not been made in over half a century so I finally nail down the parts I needed. Everything goes smooth with the purchase and I get a tracking number. The stuff comes across the continent and my local post office lost them!!!!!! I freaked out! After 25 calls and 3 weeks later they found them rather than pay the max insurance I put on the package! For Christmas my sister and brother inlaw whom live in Alaska sent me fresh and smoked Salmon. It got to my local post office in 2 days. They lost it. Found it 2 weeks later sitting on top of a hot radiator in the post office with perishable clearly written on it!!!

It could be worse - you could be at the mercy of Canada Post!

Honestly, if I was 3 hours away from SRD I'd probably just drive.....

    JMHO of course

I thought about making the drive, but too much on my plate right now. Locally, my postman has put a note in my box that i wasn't home and could pick up my package. I was home all day. Last year I had an iPod touch shipped to me. USPS site said it was delivered and I found it in the snow next to my mailbox! He didn't get a Christmas gift last year!

You have to make friends with them. It workedfor me. The local bloke would take the lazy option everytime, I got so sick of finding the notice of pick up due to no one home in the letter box, when I knew damn well I was home and had been for two days or more, that I had a bitch to the post master. No problems from that day on. The usual delivery bloke even knows me by name, and he doesn't have to show up more than once every few months.

I guess I'm lucky.I'm on a post office training route. Although I don't always have the same postman, I can be sure that I get all of my mail as there is always a trainer walking along with the trainee making sure that everything gets delivered.

I've had trouble with UPS. If I have a delivery, guaranteed, the driver will show up 8pm at night, when I'm at work. Either that, or I'll get rescheduled. ( I work 330p - 1200am) I've had some trouble with the Post Office, but still, I think the Priority mail deal is the best out there w/tracking. The US Post Office is going through some major internal struggles and financial hardships.

I used to ship stuff worldwide, and the price difference is phenomenol. To ship a stone to Japan from the states was about $100.00 with Fed Ex, and about $110.00 with UPS, or vice versa, but no kidding....I wound up sending it Express mail to Japan for half the cost, about $50.00 bucks. It got there in about a week, which is normal, if not good for USPS...

P.S. To the OP, check with your letter carrier. If they have a new guy, they love to mis sort packages. I had a new mailman, and every package I got, wound up at my neighbor's house. I had an SRD package missing for over a week....Hang in there....It'll show up...

To the poster in East Haven, You need to call your local postmaster and complain. They do take that stuff seriously. Rarely, does anything ever get lost, It may get sidetracked for a while, but for the amount of mail they handle, they do a good job with it....

Posting stuff to the US from OZ is expensive and it became moreso when the US customs imposed a temporary tariff on parcels that still hasn't been removed nearly one year on. Doesn't make it worth anyones while in my opinion. Especially if the parcel was to be lost enroute.

Often times shipping across the street takes longer than across the country. I had some medications shipped from a pharmacy and it took three days. I could have driven there in 15 minutes and picked it up myself.
