    Default strops and chromium oxide

    Hi all,

I'm building a paddle strop to with felt will be attached. How do I properly paste it with chromium oxide?
What do I use to keep the oxide in place?

    Thanks Jimmy,

I actually saw that tutorial but it's mainly talking about leather strops and Josh uses oil to keep crox on the leather. What should I use to stick the crox to felt?

They have crayons with the stuff and you just apply it like that. In the end you need a carrier of some kind that allows you to apply it and then the carrier goes bye-bye leaving the CrO behind. People use oil, water, and whatever fits the bill.

I've used water as a vehicle for chrom-ox on felt. It evaporates and there is a certain amount of chrom-ox dust that I can see whenever I use it. If you can get the crayon like TBS said, the spray is probably a good way to go to.

I have detailed instructions from a former member "ChrisL" who used to sell the Hand American Crox.
If you pm me, I'll send them to you when I get home. (I'm at work now)

    dzacca,

I have had good success just dusting the felt surface with 0.5 micron CrOx powder; you need to do this in a well ventilated space and it would be wise to wear a dust mask.

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Hi PhatMan,

the CrOx powder I plan to buy is this one: 100g Chromium Oxide Straight Razor Strop Paste Pigment | eBay, I saw that in other thread other users mentioned this one does the job.

    Default strops and chromium oxide

I've been using a felt strop that comes with it already applied. It's been working well for me.
