Unfortunately, it looks like Tony Miller is not making strops currently: The Well Shaved Gentleman The Heirloom Razor Strop Company
Strop Availability For Early 2013
At this time I am not currently producing strops and do not have an exact timeframe for production to start. I need to resupply and am looking at some new leather so am unsure at this point just what materials and models I will be offering. Because of this I cannot do pre-orders or even a keep waitlist as I cannot promise I will be offering all the same models I made in 2012.
I will keep the storefront updated as to when I will be open again and what materials and models will be offered. Please check back every week or so and thank you for your interest in my strops.

Thanked: 8I don't have a Tony Miller but do use a Kanayama 2196 most days, with occasional switches to my SRD Premium. It is just preference. I like the handle on the SRD but find the slightly reduced draw on the Kanayama cordovan pleasant otherwise. I agree with the prevailing sentiment: couldn't go wrong with either and choice might be made on the features such as handle, etc.

I love my Walkin' Horse horsebutt 3 inch wide extra long strops with light draw. Westcoastshaving and thesuperiorshave sell them, when they are available. I have a 2 1/2 inch Tony Miller Apprentice he sold a few weeks ago and it is very nice, but prefer my Walkin' Horse. I haven't tried Tony Miller's other strops. The linen strop is excellent with the apprentice.

Babweiner,
+1 on Mr Neil Miller's strops; I have quite a number of his strops, both hanging and paddle - they are all superb, indeed they are World Class
Have fun !
Best regards

Thanked: 2I received a Tony Miller Heirloom with linen strop several weeks ago and I must say the workmanship was top notch and the stropping results exceeded my expectations.

Thanked: 458I can't speak to the kanayama strops below the 10,000 series of strops, but the (new - from aframestokyo) 80,000 strop that I got a couple of months ago lacks nothing in terms of quality.
If the $100 strops are cordovan leather and lacking...well, try to get cordovan leather for $100.
Having spent that much on a strop, I don't think I'd again spend that much on a strop. I'd rather read some historical texts describing what makes a good stop, get the leather, and make a few. I get that most folks wouldn't, but if you can, it's definitely cheaper to go that route.

Does anybody have expriences with the new horsehide (Horween) strops from Alex Jacques? They seem to use high quality leathers & canvas.
