Thread: New dual grinder

Hey guys, our very own 430pat has made a new dual wheel hollow grinder! He has asked me to post the video of it for him. I am sure he will answer any questions you post here.

A little background. Pat attended the last Charlie Lewis razor meet this past Febuary.
He was very focused on making a razor grinder at that time and it seems like the exposure at Charlies gave him more ideas than he already had!
I hope he takes some more pics and another longer video.
Now I am envious.

I liked Charlie's double grinder but this is just too fancy LOL
I am assuming you are able to change the wheel sizes for different grinds

I'm still trying to make my first grinder let alone try a double set up

looks like someone has production line capabilities now

No fault for the tool making, that looks to be a good job.

It will take up to 12 inch wheels and as small as 2 inch it really works great I surprised myself I just installed a cold air gun to cool on the finish grind I did not want to wear a hazmat suit with liquid coolant it gets pretty messy.I had a friend machine tool holders for 3/16 and 1/4 inch blade stock already thinking of improvements to it. building the dual grinder is almost as much fun as making the razors.

Thanks for the update! I enjoyed both the video and what I could see of the engineering! What kind of parallel linckage do you have to keep the blade holder central to the wheels?

I sent more video and pics to Randy he can post them if he likes.I don't know what you would call the linkage as I have no engineering background just an unrelenting desire to create things this kept me awake a few nights sketching especially the linkage.I would sketch assemblies and build them it really just works great I would like to collaborate with a mechanical engineer so as to improve it.

My next improvement will be a micrometer adjustment for setting the gap between wheels now I use a feeler gauge and lock nut.

Ooooh! And a pivoting arm for smilers!
