I think he meant the drink and smoke to go along with the music

Thanked: 1587Nice video, but I notice the grips are not standard
Sorry Blade, could not resist.
I love the black and white there man. Good work.
Razor does indeed look sharp!

A gentleman and a scholar!
You clearly noticed that my tongue never left the shelter my cheek provides during the video. It was more or less directed at my mom, who bought me this razor (twenty bucks!), and would obviously cringe at my "drinking and shaving," not to mention the cigarette. Which is the reason for the wink.
And of course there's the Alice Cooper / rock and roll connection. Heh heh.

Ha ha. No worries. I actually attempted to keep the grips more or less "standard" for the southbound strokes, but when it came to the neck stuff, like the stroke that's needed to go just behind the jaw's hinge under the ear, or straight up and against the grain on the throat -- well, I just don't like those grips for that. I find that you can really sweep the blade with great precision using more of a "writing grip," since it's not a "pull" or a "push" like when your fingers are restricted to the jimps, but rather, a sweep; and sometimes almost a pivoting, semi-circular stroke, almost like the hand on a clock. Or a scythe, maybe?
Anyway, "standard" or not, you can see that the technique works. That was quite a bit of hair there, and it was reduced, melted, lasered, sheared away by the power of the new Boker. That was my first time using that razor, having just sharpened it on the Norton and stropped it on the leather.
And thanks, I thought the black and white worked well too. Left the colour in at the end for kind of a "brightens your outlook" kind of effect. Revitalized and whatnot. I think black and white film / photography has a "down to basics" element to it, which is neat. Another reason for it was the fact the camera's pretty lousy, and when I move about and block the overhead light's pathway to the lens, it affects the exposure, which really messed with the saturation and hue of the colour, almost like a solar eclipse on repeat. So the gray scale kind of masks that, I think.

Yea he sure does know how to shave with a straight.
He whips right thought that shave and really dident seem to have any trouble spots he slowed do for. ATG on his chin... went right through it smmoth. Upper lip... whisked away without missing beat.
I think the drink and smoke were to add a little humor to it. GREAT shave with some good skills from what I saw.

Ah, I should hone that edelweiss of mine...
Good job, I think background music and conveying the information with subtitles works much better than subpar audio track.

Yeah, the audio on that thing is the pits, definitely. It would have picked up some decent commentary since the camera was quite close, but talking would have slowed things down quite a bit; and besides, most people aren't yacking away when they shave anyway, right? Cats get tossed (literally), family members are told to scram, etc. It's supposed to be alone time.
Also, the tap was running, so it would have "drowned" out any already-useless tips or suggestions with an ugly hissing through the viewer's speakers, which would have sucked. So why not a quick subtitle and some classic rock?

Who was that devilishly handsome brute who wields a straight like Zorro wields a sword??
Perfect choice of music if I do say so myself!
