Thanked: 124I have to respectfully disagree with those of you who are slamming this guy for drinking & shaving. Not b/c I think it's a good idea...I wouldn't do it. But it's his face, not mine, & he seems confident in his skills, & for good reason.
There is an ongoing trend that George Carlin called the "Pussification of America." Helmet laws. Seatbelt laws. The "Harley-Davidson Cafe," for the love of god. Every time someone does something that we think is unsafe, we run around like a bunch of mommies in aprons, shaking our index finger.
Stop that.
This guy, despite his youth, is obviously a throwback to an earlier time where men did stupid, dangerous things because, let's face it, stupid, dangerous things are exciting. You may not like it, but by god you gotta respect it. So pour yourself a scotch on the rocks, light up a Leon Jimenez cigar, & don't let the ladies turn you into one of them.
Peace out,
-Johnny

Thanked: 335Right on and straight ahead!!!
Considering how seemingly effortlessly he shaved off a weeks+ growth with no hot towels, no pre shower, wash, rinse, whatever - apparently with no prep at all, I think we ought to find out what was in that bottle and get some (a carton or two) for ourselves.

Thanked: 131I like the way Blade Wielder has introduced the thread as 'this guy on youtube who has a new shave video' and only some members eg. JMS seem to now that the video is him (alluded to in BW's response to JMS's post)
Good shave, skillful and yes a very sharp razor. Would be interested to find out if it was actually BBS though. Often when I shave I can remove the visible hair but still not feel BBS. Overall a highly commended performance.

Thanks, sidneykidney. And thank you to everyone else for the kind words.
When splashing the water on my face at the very end, I felt next to no stubble. I was really pleased with how the razor performed, actually. If you like, you can read the "more info" section of the video after you've clicked on it and actually gone to the YouTube site. I think I mentioned there that it was my first shave with that Boker. I think that blade is going to be a favourite of mine from here on in. Anyway, it's about a page-long write up, and aside from a bit of useful information, the rest is just satiric / comedic. You straight razor experts will know where I'm goofing around, but your casual viewer who stumbles upon the video probably won't. Heh heh.
I also mentioned in the description / "more info" section that I used a hot towel for a couple of moments before turning on the camera, and I also pre-lathered some shaving cream in a bowl. Just to shorten the video a bit. Other than that, the shave is totally continuous. A few seconds of face rinsing were cut out at the pre-lather stage and at the end, but that's it. Again, just to keep it as short as possible.

I remember a time in America when you could buy your gas, booze and shells/cartridges all at the same store and then the weekend would begin. America was a great place then, the women then had bigger cajones than men do today. I remember when most pickup trucks had a longarm of one kind or another in the rack in the back window, I remember when 12 yr old kids could walk out of the house with their favorite squirrel gun and head for the woods and the most the neighbors would say is be careful or to bring them something. If a kid did that today the SWAT team would shoot him down in the street in 10 minutes time.

That would've been pretty cool.
I've seen things change since I was little, too. I remember seeing rifles and shotguns in the backs of pickups now and then, but that wouldn't have been as common as in the US. Catalogues used to have all sorts of guns in there that I'd look at, but since then they've pretty much phased them out and now only sell cartridges and air rifles. I always thought this shotgun called "The Coach Gun" was really cool and remember wanting one. Looked like something out of the old west. At least I got a BB gun soon after. I'm just thankful my childhood included plenty of small animal hunts with the .22's. Blasting with the ol' 410, then 20 gauge, then 12 gauge.
