new project
just wanted to let the new guys like me know to watch ebay close especially when they only show one side photo . the second photo is the ebay photo. this is the bad side alright. the thing it didn't show is the blade is a little short for the scales. don't know if this is right or if it had been put together to sell. at any rate I found a video on taking a nick out of a blade using sand papper I can't remember who but it worked good. it took a little while to hone but got it shave ready. the marks on the side sanded out also and polished ok not great but ok. I think i'll adjust that point though. anyway for what I gave for it it was good practice. and if it don't work out the scales will fit another razor. anyway I had fun with it. I forgot it went from a 7/8 to a 6/8 still ok .

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

removing the notch took about 15-20 minutes and sanding the scales and polishing took about 30-35 it was the honing that took the time. after removing the notch it left a complete flat edge and setting the bevel took quite a while. the razor was wider at the toe than the heal it looks like a frown but it's really straight. the point for me may have to be mute. I keep trying to use the pointed ones and they keep biting.

rhensley, I agree with you on the point but I want to comment on what a challenge it is to be able to use a razor with a point and not get 'bit' by it. Half of my razors have sharp points and I use the that as an opportunity to remember to slow down and be aware of what I'm doing and at the same time re trenching myself in the basics of good str8 shaving. The bite is like an old fashioned teacher's crack across your knuckles with her ruler to remind you to pay attention.
