I had a big knot (28mm) hanging around forever, so I thought it was time for a brush attempt.

How was drilling it? Hard stuff for crap forstner bits that I have to file to get a decent edge on.
Nice work on those skins Shaun. And that big brush!
My hiatus from straights is starting to weigh on me. Need to make some time to hone a few goodies.
And a few to dos to do from a man who likes to send me challenges.
Inlays in my future men..
:beer1:
It was a long, slow, and squeaky bore Andrew. I have to say I am very happy to have a decent X-Y vice for my drill press. I think I am going to do a run of elk antler brushes and use up the antler I have here, I’m sure I can get more if I need it. Xmas is coming and I need to get crafty.
We have missed your work B52. Get on with those inlays, scale making and turning. I happen to know there is no shortage of projects in the lab.
Here's one I made 2-3 yrs ago using a forstner bit in a drill press but that's why I wanted my lathe because it did walk on me on another one. This one is a 28mm. I also made a 26mm. The horn was soft in the center so I had to put thin CA in it so that it wouldn't walk as bad but still did. I just got lucky on the two I did make. I originally used those Chinese knots & they started shedding so I got a couple replacements from Brad Maggard. Don't have to worry about the walking with a lathe. Not only that but with a lathe, I won't need a forstner bit.

Well....I have painted myself into a corner again......7 day set of NOS Herders. All different numbers. Gaaaa! :banghead:
It will be nice. I have the box sorted and all.
Since I began with them, I will use Sorin's bigs and littles. Nothing could be more solid with this bone.
I got him to make me all he had material for. Just enough!
Got a pile of spacers too.
I will have to unpin the #30 I just finished and use those collars to convert it to the bone scales. Kindof bummer there...
I have 5 more sets to disassemble and taper the wedges. Blades are sorted. More work to do!
