Going to remove some hardware variety blades from these cool German-silver (I think?) scales and install a few Henckels blades. The 66 is obviously busted at the tip and square-pointing it at the break should put it perfect for these scales. The #18 might make it, but perhaps a tiny bit off the end.

I Attribute these scales to CF Ern from his American days as they are ringers for the 'Ern Jr' and similar 'Zepp' scales he made in New York back in the day. They have a little 'detent' as the razor is closed which keeps the blade from coming out. neat scales! ;)

Very neat Tom, remember researching these interesting scales, definitely from C. Friedrich Ern.

Strange how the smoke from this particular material, created as the laser did its thing, seemed to etch the surrounding material more so than on my previous laser inlay projects.
Will see if I can clean it up some with some 1200 w/d sandpaper.
Overall though, I like the depth of recess, no edge catching on the inlay.
Curios is a good word Mike!
Started in on the 66, marked the blade for surgery

Turned-up nice. A bit of sanding and buffing on the grob to go. A spike-point Henckels! Makes me shudder!

Test fit looks good!

I was a bit worried that the scales were plated, but some buffer confirmed the old German silver through and through.
They were originally nutsy-boltsied at the pivot. We all know how that goes! :nono:
AjKenne's collars fit right in there!

So a bit of sanding, buffing on the spine, grob, and tang. More on the scales.
Then to pin this puppy up! :D
