I think if you can fit magnets into your original design you will have hit it out of the park.

Lot of success with those small ball bearing sized neodybnium magnets for razor stands. More than enough pull for razor posing.
Neat idea using the pvc for the stand..
give me 30 minutes...

Working on my first Puma. It's a #18 and it's just about ready for scales.
Was considering wood but decided to use an older set of plastic ones I had kicking around.
Re shaped them to match what was left of the original busted puma scales, and have removed the logo.

Then pulled a logo close up and cleaned up the image to feed into my laser software to burn the new inlay detent in the new scales.

Still need to move over the third pin and clean it up a bunch, but the logo fit is the focus today..
Cheers.
The glue is drying...

Magnets are a bit weak. Won't hold up an 8/8 blade on my Doble Temple.

I think we have a prototype design that'll work.
I'd like to thank Geezer, 32t, RezDog and MikeB52 for their help. Thanks guys.
Of course, I'm still open to suggestions.
Right..!!
There's nothing wrong with your display idea (kinda like it).
As for the pivot pin. I like them snug when I'm ready to hone, after restoration. Then I'll typically have to snug them up again after honing and stropping.
Holy (insert expletive here)! I did some research on the neodybnium magnets you mentioned and found this...
What is in a neodymium magnet?
Neodymium magnets are a member of the Rare Earth magnet family and are the most powerful permanent magnets
in the world. They are also referred to as NdFeB magnets, or NIB, because they are composed mainly of
Neodymium (Nd), Iron (Fe) and Boron (B).
I have a broken rare earth magnet out in the shop and I know how strong they are. Yes, it's strong enough and then some.
I'll see what I can come up with.
I've put a few in the base of brush handles, thanks to MikeB52
