We burn piles of those things every year. I can always mail some to you.

I'm kind of behind here on the forum, as I've spent the last week trying to keep my department of 20 safe and sane while getting one of our state's largest high schools ready for students during a pandemic-good times!
Anyway, nice basket, Vern. To keep myself sane, I may start on this Herder 49 today. About once a year I splurge on a beautiful NOS blade to put in fancy scales. I couldn't resist this massive, gorgeous NOS Herder. I've gotten others from the same ebay seller that turned out beautifully. Though my original thought was to put her in ebony scales with maybe a bone wedge and silver hardware, I'm now picturing her in desert ironwood shaped to complement her lines, and a matching brush.

More later as I find time to put it all together-cool thing is the blade is perfect as is!
Nice blade Aaron. I will be watching for it.

Those Herders are spectacular shavers. I have some 49’s waiting for me to get back to them.
I hear ya on the Herders, fellas-I rescaled a NOS 76 (round point) last year in Bolivian Rosewood, and sold it (why?). I think the 49 profile is much more handsome. I look forward to seeing yours, Shaun!
I can't ever remember seeing a blade such as that in that condition before. Outstanding! Can't wait to see what it looks like in a set of scales!
Everyone needs a nice Herder.

I know, and I paid dearly for it cuz a lot of other guys wanted it too.:(
Oh, well, now I have to do it justice. I just finished cutting and doming a set of pins, and flattening/thinning/rough-shaping the scales on my flatbed grinder on 60 grit. I finally got the bright idea to do that on the deck steps with a foot-switch so I don't sand my finger-tips off lol!

They're now clamped up on their G10 liners. Now I'm thinking about a wedge, looking through my wedge and pinning box. I'm thinking maybe a thin piece of DI to contrast with the black liners? For a fancy razor I like a brass-lined wedge, but I can't see that working with the G10-too thick and too busy.

Might be next weekend before I get back at 'em (and then the wife wants to go get a shelter dog as a companion to our poor dog who is losing us to school after 5 months of distance learning and summer break, so who knows?).
Mike, here's that 76 I scaled in Bolivian Rosewood (now I want another 76!):
