Not blade related, but what I am working on. A quick and dirty ring bender, roller skate wheels and scrap. Roller skate axels are not as strong as I hoped they would be. At least I got the ring I wanted made.

Oddly enough, I have been looking at ring rollers lately.
I think the vise would work well if I took the time to make beefy jaw inserts and drilled and tapped them so everything was square. As it was I welded and eyeballed the skate wheels it worked well until I bent the axle on the drive wheel. I think two or more roller bearings stacked and some good grade of bolts would make for a good part time ring bender.
I am gong to go wow and just watch......:D
That's very clever Charlie. I'm quite impressed. Nothing like a good repurpose project.
The idea is pretty cool. Essentially you are changing the ring size by opening and closing the vice. I expect for my purposes that concept should work well. I have some rings to make for some planters, sort of a faux barrel idea. I think when I get home from work I will begin the imitation.
Definitely a clever tool construct Charlie. Keeping that one in the backbrain till needed.

Saw this the other day. Might give some ideas

I would not have thought a stateboard axle would be weak. When I was a kid I was hell on a board! Dont think I ever bent one. Maybe they are made thinner, lighter now days. I mean I am talking about the 1970s.
Skateboard axles are bigger. These wheels came from a child's size roller skate. I used to work with a lady who dumpster dived as a hobby, one time she found a bunch of used rental skates that a roller rink had thrown away. She gave be a bunch of them I have used them for various projects over the years. She was a super smart talented tech, but a bit eccentric.
