What are you working on?

I'm going stir-crazy not being able to do much and the wife watching me like a hawk to be sure I don't do anything. So I dug up a couple of blades that needed just a touch of work and then pinned. So here they are.

I had to do a little research on this Graco. All I could find was a picture of a Barber Hone with the same exact Graco stamp. So my guess is it's a Henry Greave Co.

Please correct me if I'm wrong and/or confirm my thoughts on this one. Dating it would be helpful too. It is a Full Hollow so I figured the 1920s or 1930s???

Not completely done yet. Still have to polish and hone but the Vulcan is back together.

I’m glad your wife is watching you like a hawk Jerry. After my hernia surgery when I wasn’t suppose to lift anything heavier than a coffee cup, everyone had an eye on me. It’s good we have people to look out for us when we are too stubborn to follow simple instructions. I bet you are correct on your age guess. Paul I like that style of scale, it will be nice pinned up I’m sure.

It takes all my wife's time keeping me from re-injuring myself. Where would we be without them. The book of Genesis says, "The Lord God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.' ” the next phrase should have read, "...because that joker is going to hurt himself!"

Pinned up already Shaun. I just didn't get pics of that. I planned on doing a little more extensive post but I was snapping toothpicks last night.

Okay here are the pinned pics of the Vulcan.

The blade face I sanded and sanded trying to get some really deep lateral scratches out. Sanded as much as I was willing then progressed up to 2k then decided to go back to frosted. So I sanded vertically (spine to bevel) with 800 W/D. The spine, tang and tail horizontally up to 3k.
Darkened the stamp on the non show side so it showed up better.

Went with nickel silver pins and collars on these sculpted scales.
It had wood before which was rather plain.and felt too big.

I did extensive work on the scales too as they were not original to the donor razor. Because the wedge end (actually it is a spacer, not a wedge) was improperly pinned and the pin hole through the spacer was not straight the blade would not center and it caused them to warp which I fixed

The person who put the other blade in them put a giant washer on one side of the blade which stuck out like a sore thumb. In spite of that it still didn't center.

Also they left some gouges at the pivot end where they removed the old pins which I patched.
