Got back to the reground W&B FBU. The shape of this point just bugged me. It looked like a half hearted attempt at adding a notch or something. That and the toe was too square.

It just didn't have the classic FBU look so I gave it more notch plus did a little reshape of the tip of the spine and the toe.

I didn't go crazy with the toe, giving it a smile...yet. We'll see what the future holds. Here's a tracing of the blade before with the blade overlaid for reference.

I'm assuming there's still good strength in the tip of the blade, Paul.
A lot of the reground wedges wouldn't support the tip, so they were squared, as in this pic.
Left...early wedge
Middle...reground wedge, to hollow grind
Right...the hollow grind/ most modern of their times.

Yeah, I was aware and concerned about that but it doesn't have much flex and the toe is solid. Good point though Mike and very well illustrated and tactfully stated.
This one is nowhere near as hollow as other regrinds I have. Not sure why they squared it off if they weren't going to square it al the way and at least shape the spine back to the original shape.

There were s lot of guys offering that type of business, back then.
I was told by a local barber, that there was a guy a few city's south of me, that still does it.
Sells a bunch of stuff on the bay, too. From what I hear...
Probably buying lots, and fixing them up.

Been busy with a bit of metal work, myself.
Been saaanding my arse off, and wearing out my fingers, getting the W&B, and Wosty blades back to their original finish.
I've finished the W&B, in a modified crocus finish....I guess.

The Wosty is halfway, done. I thought it was i n better condition, than it actually was after cleaning with 3M. Blade faces appear to have been a mirror finish, and has been a real test, to duplicate by hand.

Its a lot of work to do by hand, but so worth the effort, to preserve original lines from grinding.
Scales have been soaking for just over a week, and will stay there till the blades are ready. :tu

Just getting started on #3 out of 4. A Vulcan Cutlery which I have no information on but I like the look.

It has obviously been rescaled . The scales aren't really bad, just a little clunky and it's pinned like a knife. I'll probably put some of that kick @$$ Southern Live Oak or a pair of fancy scrolled scales from a donor razor.

I'm kind of leaning towards the scrolled scales. Too bad I don't have any with the naked lady.
This one is a little narrow but the bevel angle is still only 15.93°. I still think it's worth saving. A couple of extra layers of tape should bring it back to 19°.

I always shoot for 17 Paul. 19 is a little much in my book.

19 is supposed to be the magic number. I was just reading a post
with a link about that recently. Either way 15.93 is too acute.
