I guess it depends on what someone likes. But I have always played being 17.5 as perfect. So with my math, I'd go with one layer of Super 88 and one layer of Kapton.
Whatever works for you bro.
Maybe someone else will chime in on this subject.

Never really gave it too much thought for myself except where regrinding or in this case where blade width is limited. This one being just over 4/8 it is not extremely narrow but bordering on it. 15-20 degrees being the window, 15 would theoretically be on the too fragile side. 20 would be on the too durable side. 17-18 should be preferred with 19 leaning toward more durable but still in the preferred range. Going to someone who is not currently equipped to do honing I figured I'd err on the side of durability.
My razors are all good shavers and were shave ready when I got them so I just add a layer of Kapton to the spine.
My thinking is to try to get as close to honing with no tape as possible but still protect the spine.
From what I understand, it really doesn't matter what tape or not the razor was honed with originally by the time it's ready for the stones again. I often reset the bevel anyway.
Finished up the W&B and Wosty, yesterday.
