Great job on that Joseph Allen, Mike.
Finally got the FBU pinned. The scales didn't come out as nice as I was hoping but it's all original. What do you guys think? Keep it original or make a new home for her. I'm still deciding which way to go. I like the original but I have some really nice wood here and it would do it justice.Attachment 232559Attachment 232561Attachment 232562
Looks nice to me Erik. I see you are wearing band aids. Did you cut yourself with that bad boy?
No band aids. Just my little sausage fingers, ha ha ha. The lighting is playing tricks
I don't think those are the original scales. Eric, but who am I to talk! :rofl2:
Looks like it is shaped nicely and the stabilizer seems out of the way....Set a bevel, man! :)
Maybe the correct way to say it is that it's the original way I received it. I don't know how they came from factory. if you have any way of telling if they are original I would love to know. The old pins looked to be the right type for the age. I still learning thought.
Bevel was set before I did to much work on her. Didn't want to waste my time if she didn't have a good bevel. There was some nasty grinding done to her before I got it.
Oh, you're right, I see it now. it was the lighting or something.
I was thinking the same thing Tom said about the scales but I didn't say anything because they look good anyway. If you want it to look original, you can always do that later if you can find some original scales or make some new ones from some black horn blanks. You could even dress it up a little with some streaked black horn which I like also.
EDIT: Here's a pic of the ones I've seen. I snapped this one up less than a month ago when it must have just been listed & as soon as I saw the BIN for $150, I grabbed it because they are going for more these days. This seller didn't know what he had. The blade is exactly 1" wide.

Some of the heavy blade W&B's also have those scales but these are the kind of scales I'm used to seeing on the FBU's.
They usually have those bullseye collars too.
