Here is an updated picture of where I am at with making my first straight. I have been refining the grind and checking how the bevel will look as I near the end of grinding. I am pleased with the progress so far. I am still not sure whether I want to do wood or Micarta scales.Attachment 153527

The knives are for my daughters (6 and 8). It's niolox steel which in my opinion behaves like stainless 52100. It's an absolute bitch to sand. The handles are acrylic, epoxied into place.I also pinned them. It looks good, and if the epoxy ever loosens I can still pin the handles. I only attached the handles today. The razors were made from scratch and heat treated. Now they need grinding and fine shaping.
Razors are looking good Bruno. What steel is it?
Ok, latest small update:
Had to cut of the motorbracket. Wasn't straight enough for my liking. Welded the rest of the frame and the contactwheel arm plus tracking arm. Put in the axle for the contactwheel, mounted the spring for the tracking mechanism.
Now Im waiting for a reply from the UK were I have to get my drive wheel from. And then it's just the electronics left, and some mounting holes to fasten on my workbench, plus a nice paintjob :)
