I agree with Razorfeld, I like 'em. Someone took some time on those way back, homemade and hand-made. They have the warm color of years showing in the surface.

It was one large lot! Some are a bit rough but most will restore or just clean-up nice. I wont say where I got them but... A member here on this site is a good man!
That's all I'll say. It blew me away! He said he was going to send me a razor to add to my collection but it was going to need restored. It was something I was just wanting to add. Nothing fancy, I just wanted one. And this is what showed up.
The two displays will be all I put on the wall. When they get full of finished/completed razors then I go to the Wooden tool chest I seen someone else using a few months ago. I think it was H.F.. Looks like a nice way to store them. Thanks for the "likes" gentlemen. And thank you to the generous member that sent these to me! I think I will have enough to stay busy for the next year!
Being that we both know who this gracious man is, Jerry. I sent him a PM in thanks and gratitude, He's an underestimated, misunderstood, member here but honorable for sure.[emoji482]
Jerry, at the rate that you are growing you should probably consider making part of, or all of a wall your display or you'll eventually end up with too many cabinets. What a great gesture on the part of a great member. I've always said that once you are here for a while the people become like family. Things like this just prove that to be true. It will be fun to watch your progress.
Congratulations and enjoy!

Thanks Pete. But I think the wife would have something to say about me covering my walls with the sharpest things in the world. Hey, I'd have a good reason to get a real sword then. Ha.
An oak handle.

I removed both sets with care to save for future works or templates Richard. They are certainly old, and very similar to the ones on my only other Greaves. Look like a big pin, and no washers used in this Greaves. It was a tough drill out.
Undecided if they will be reused or not. I tend to prefer to keep things matched and original when ever I can. The horn rattler scales are in a little baggy of neatsfoot to recondition, and both blades are in the tumbler a few days now and just about ready for detail cleaning. Will clean these up with some orange cleaner and see how they look..
Hi Guys!
I think it could be agreed upon that we strive to use 'Antique Tools' for shaving. Well I just spent the most fascinating 63 minutes watching a true craftsman at work a 6th generation using tools that haven't changed much if in the passing of time.
He shows step by step how he and his ancestors before him performed the work of a 'Cooper'.
Please take the time to watch, listen and learn how this age old art was done.
He makes it look so easy.

I had 2 extra hours today that the wife didn't have stuff for me to do. :y
So I dug thru the lot of razors I got given to me and found one that just needed a little work.
H. Boker 1925 R.P. Still in original scales. There is a small chip on the scale where the blade had hit the edge when closing but it is very small and not worth messing with.

As you can see it has a frown plus the tip is smaller than the heal. Plus a little staining on the blade but nothing too bad.

So I got out the DMT325 and started working over the edge to get it more uniform. Worked the heal/stabilizer just a touch then did some polishing/cleaning.

Pic doesn't show much of the cleaning and polishing I did but you can tell the edge is much better. Its a solid 4/8+ blade now. Still need to get it on the stones but I think this one was an easy repair and will be a fine looking razor to add to my display board. Dont have any yellow scales. I think they are acrylic of some kind but really dont know. The bolsters are in great shape and pins are tight. Might repin it some day but for now its just fine.
