Babies like, no make that love bowls

They throw them after they choose which way to empty them. Eat it, rub it in, toss it or just about ANY other messy way of doing things.

Great job on it, I'm sure it will be around a long time. With a few stories and great memories

I'm pretty sure that bowls will be one of those items she has always had and will always cherish.

Great job on the blade & scales Tuzi. The bowl looks nice Eric. Kids love bowls. They usually remove the contents with their hands, maybe wear w/contents & once done with it, they fling it!

I've been working on the Ern Ator scales. I had to take them completely apart because I notices on the wedge end, someone used collars which I could barely see. I'm glad I took it apart because whoever put it together used a plastic wedge & it stained the ivory somehow. I also noticed the blade had taken some very small chunks out of one scale because of the thin wedge. It was flat all the way across & if it even had a slight amount of slant to it, it may have been okay but I'm glad to get that piece of plastic out of there. I'll make a much nicer wedge for it.

Outside - looks like a little stain bleeding through on one scale just barely. No big deal. Tried bleach but wouldn't work.


Also working on a Crandall Cutlery straight razor. I have this one razor but the blade is frowning & I have a much nicer blade for it, so I'm swapping them out. When I was drilling the pin, the razor rolled on me just a tad but no biggie. I was hoping the collar would cover up the mistake but it would just barely be seen & with me, it's gotta be right. I found some old slurry I was saving or it may have been some Mothers all dried up because it is a bluish green. I mixed some up with some epoxy & filled the pinhole, then drilled it out again. Looking good so far. Once done, it will look like it was never there.

This is how it was but next time I'll have something under it that might not let the razor roll on me, like double sided tape. (also may have not been clamped down tight enough)

Steve, peroxide is the bomb when it comes to bleaching ivory or bone. Most frequently I bleach it white with peroxide and then stain it to make it look old or natural. Teas and coffee make for some nice staining. I am going to try some turmeric to try to get more yellow in my next set.

I tried that Shaun but I'll try it again. It doesn't look bad but I try to get it the best I can.

The regular drug store variety takes quite a bit of time to do its thing, days not hours. The good part on that is it is harder to make it too white.

That's the one thing I have been forgetting lately Shaun. I have some in a spray bottle but it's not marked so it may be the stronger one. I need to buy more though & I also buy the stronger rubbing alcohol & I have had 1 extra of those & it is bloated some, so I imagine it fermented a little more. It is the 91%..........or was.

Turmeric is supposed to help with migraines as well. Double whammy!
