this process has been writen out previously in honing for uneven spine wear etc
I have had to do this with a pig of a W&B with a poor spine condition
just keep a track of what you do so it can be replicated later if required for touch ups etc

    Hi
Thanks for all the advice, just a couple of things -
When you mention about bevel resetting using a couple of pieces of tape, then do you mean that I then put a further piece of tape on top of the other two to carry out the final honing ?
I am asking this as I have been unable to find where this has been previously explained on the forum ! Can anyone can supply me a link ?
    Many thanks

Luckypip Gssixgun (Glen) has started a new thread relating to your problem called "Worn out Wedge Style razor - Re-grind or a new idea !!!" You may like,
Not the tape thread but I can't find what if was in myself
But essentially the multiple layers of tape are to build the spine up, then hone with pressure on the spine only to wear it down flat and even, when you have the spine lines and thickness right you can apply your final layer as the bevel angle setter as many normally do when honing
    Saved,
    to shave another day.

It's a real pain in the rear but I have split an appropriately sized piece of brass tubing with a dremel tool and slid it over the spine to create a pseudo-frameback honing aid. That razor is a good candidate too since the spine is relatively straight (curves make shaping the brass evenly difficult). Worth a try if it's just going to be a junker otherwise. Good luck,

    Andrew
