Iwasaki Touch Up
Hey guys.. I have this most annoying dot (spot) on my Iwasaki that I'm dying to get rid of.
You know the black color on the side of the razor, the material it's touched up with for protection near the spine? Well, it seems a little extra came elsewhere and I was wondering..
If I try to rub it with Autosol or the like.. Do I risk getting different color in the steel? Do you think it comes off in the first place?
Will try to edit with a pic ASAP

Thanked: 3227If you mean the glue residue from black electrical tape use to protect the spine while honing, the glue side of the electrical tape will take that off if you dab it.

AS pixelfixed mentioned from the picture it looks to be part of the metal.
If I understand the process in making a Kamisori a purer harder piece of steel is forge welded to the omote side at the edge.
the ura is a softer less pure alloy and is also what comprises the rest of the Kamisori. It is just Whisker Whacking

My 2 cents would follow what others have said and leave it be. I would also leave the handle as is and just be cautious not to wet it.

Thanks, it's always great to see what others think. I guess it isn't that bad. There have been others though that changed the wrapping or removed it altogether (to make drying process easier) so it was just a thought.
