I've tried to do something similar, I'm sanding down to fit now. They look nice, I think the lead should clean off, even at 1000 grit.
The lead should have a little taper, maybe not if you do a test fit. It will polish up also with metal polish.

yeah there is a bit of a taper, the angle of the photos makes it seem even smaller than it is

Man you are code to wrapping this giant project up. It was a fairly large task especially considering how much of it was done by hand. I'm impressed with both your project in general and your ability yo keep picking away at it.

Fantastic job dooey! I'll never forget this one. Someone has a post up right now about a seven day set & making one & it took me a few minutes but I remembered your name because it is close to a good friends name. I thought of you which was why I wrote you & asked about your project. I was not on here as much awhile back because I had some other issues to deal with. That turned out to be a beautiful seven day set. I can't wait to see your next project! I bet when you made the last touch, you were able to relax, take in a deep breath of fresh air & exhale & was just thrilled!!!! I know I would have been & whenever I finish a long project, I do the same thing & I can relax. Super job well done!!!!!!!

haha that pretty much what happened, just a few extra projects still on the go to finish off.

i still need to do a little write up on the finished product and take a few better picture of the whole set. i also still have to hone the set and finish the box off as well.
