    Default maintain horn

    HI ya'll,
I have a few razors with horn scales, that don't need to be re-pinned, but if possible would like to avoid disassembly to recondition the horn.
so would the metel suffer any from being submerged in neats feed for a few days ?

Could you just heavily wipe the neatsfoot oil on the scales and let it absorb then reapply until the horn scales begin to look hydrated again?

I have soaked mine for days.
    No harm to the blade.

i have soaked a razor in neetsfoot oil for a couple of weeks and it did turn the blade darker especially where the blade touched the scales(it was a wedge). i think that the oil is some what acidic. Just keep an eye on it.

I smash a q-tip with a hammer, dip in the neetsfoot and slather it inside and outside of the scales.Let it sit several hours, flip it over and let it run down the other way. Wipe off excess after a day. Seems to work fine and saves the bother of soaking.

Just for grins... ... I'll put forward a contrarian opinion: Disassemble the razors, restore the scales and the razor, and re-pin the razor. I never use neetsfoot oil myself...JMHO and YMMV!

But of course! However, whoever does not want to unpin whatsoever!
