    red acrylic in translucent looks good or you could use a solid colour also maybe

    Someone may have already mentioned it, but I would think kirinite would have a red you like.

    That would be nice, but I've only found it in some marbled or swirly two tone offering. I may have to make do with a duller red in G10 if I can get it opaque.

    Yeah, I looked and that is all I saw. I can't believe they don't make any solid blanks of the red they use in some of the multicolor patterns.
    It may not be as bright as your wanting, but polished g10 and micarta does look nice. I'll keep an eye out for your finished project.

    You may be able to get samples from a plastics place for cheap. You could also shop around for clipboards, which would let you see the material in person.

    You could also try your local signwriter. They might have some offcuts that you may be able to get gratis.

    I've used this for wedges and spacers it comes in 3mm and 5mm and it would make an excellent scale material if that's what you wanted it for. PS here's a Puma I restored where I used it for the wedge and spacer.

    That's a very nice Puma, what material are the scales?

    That acrylic could be just the thing, odd that there aren't any north american retailers I can find.
