By the way...
Dremmel makes a hard sponge like polishing wheel that has a mild abrasive in it. I use that and a dab of flitz or maas on it to clean up the hammer marks, and remove that edge from the pin. They are gray in color when their new.

Well Tom you will see my collarless peening close up and first hand soon enough. I actually had not thought of buffing them after the fact. I guess that is why you are the leader.

Yeah. That one needed unpinning and starting over. It's about 2 licks from breaking a scale! ;)
as it needs tightening again, I would suggest starting over.

Ill definitely keep that in mind.

To be honest i hope i never have to pin it up again. The holes are sunk way in. It was a nerve racking afternoon with that razor.

It comes from looking at many examples and unsuccessfully attempting it over and over.

I use them and I found that a small (~2/2") piece of 0.010-0.020 shim brass with a hole/s of the right sizes in it can be a great tool to keep the polish where it belongs. Group the holes so your other hand can hold it to the scale.
