Haha, truly Mike. Last post back in September,! This blade sat forgotten for a while. we did some crazy stuff in this thread. Worth reviving for that alone.
I'm staying home today since my old cars coil pack decided to go kaput on the way home last night. Waiting on the delivery truck now so turned to another rattler needing some correction.
Someone kinda butchered the grind profile somewhat. Pity too as it's got gorgeous lines to it.

Going to try to feather in the edge of the 'step' best I can with 400 grit wet paper and wd40 by hand, then to the 6" wheel with 600 grit and up. Sounds easy, but that will be a fair bit o blending and metal massaging.
Pretty confidant that this one can be dressed out, edge doesn't looked foiled at all.

While when this razor was reground they wiped out abut 1/2 of the original stamping when I got done you couldn't tell that there had been any stamp at all. Nice thing about these is they were ground longways below the spine.
Easier to sand and polish the same way.
Glad to hear that, I entrusted Mike with that precious blade....was always a superb shaver, Sheffield steel all the way, butterly smooth and always an effortless close shave. Don't know what it is about the Sheffield steel, but the more I've been using many, many different high end brands, from the Mk's to the Iwasaki and other Japanese and German, Spanish razors, I always come back to Sheffield, nothing, for me, seems to come close, just my opinion of course.Quote:

I recall tom sharing that lengthwise grind tidbit before and it really is evident in the steel profile as I'm sanding it. The sides of the blade were very straight, right up to grinder step. Can feel it under the wet paper as I work it, slowly getting smoothed out.

My hands are just about done for the night, but some good progress.
This blade deserves to be re squared as it will be appreciated for a long time..

Moving up to 600 and beyond will go quicker now that the sides are profiled out again. Then into some new clothes and ready for another rattler Saturday for phrank..
