Thanked: 4207Dat's kinda cool. I've been quotated!
Thanks Tim.
And I realized after I wrote my HP analogy some Americans might not get the reference.
Think it's called brown sauce down there, like in England. But up here House of Parliament(HP sauce)."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 4207Casting up a new batch of burl blend scales and brush stock.
And the alumilite and some scraps.
And the finished slab after cure. Need to leave it a couple days to fully cure before slicing.
This blue will look good on a stainless steel backer I hope."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 4207The results of the latest cast.
Happy to say there were no voids. With the more nooks and crannies in these burls, I paused twice during the pour to slowly tilt the mold on it's two axis to dislodge any captured air pockets. With the size of this mold, it won't fit in my vacuum chamber so it can only see the pressure pot. 60 psi for an hour@77'F room temp seems to be the ticket for this water clear alumilite to be bubble free. The colour dyes are a bit of a trick as they are super thick and colour intensely, quickly. Not sure if mild tint would even be doable.
Opted to slice these @1/4" thickness so I could possibly make some without liners. I am please with the shade of blue and think it will compliment stainless liners quite well even if I do end up going that route. Have enough left in the blank to turn a few matching pens as well.
Cheers, and thanks for looking."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."

Thanked: 4207Thanks Guys.
I might buy the bigger jugs next, despite the jump in price as I really do like all the possibilities with this material.
The tan and black solid colour stuff might be handy for some real retro castings as well..
Just waiting on the knots to finish those brushes Mike!"Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."
