The scales look great. Is there any kind of finish on them or are they sanded only?

I sand them roughly with my belt sander, then hand sand (under running water with wet/dry paper) from 220 or 400 up through 2000 grit. Then I polish it with MAAS and finally a coat of renaissance wax.

Those scales turned out great! I don't think you'd have any problems selling as many as you can make.

that is seriously the nicest thing i have ever seen!

those of you that have been in the chat with me know i am a freak for odd stuff. i want stone, Pyrex, porcelain, hammered copper, titanium, all kinds of weird scale material. but that does it! way better than anything in my mind! now i just need a good heavy blade worthy of them. that and the $ to get them ! lol.

    super nice!!!!!

Lookin' good there. I didn't see it mentioned, but if being too light is an issue, you could always bond the carbon to an inner layer of metal such as brass. It wouldn't take much to give it some heft, and the gold color would really offset it. Just my two cents...

I talked about it in another thread- basically said that it is a perfect weight in my opinion. Not too light, not too heavy. Balance seems good on the ones I have done. Feels solid too!
