I dont know, because I dont work with this. The outside diameter is 1/8 = 3,1 mm - too much for the most pivot holes. If you ever tried to drill out this hole on a razor, you dont want to do this a second time. With normal drills this not will work.

@philadelph: Maybe you dont can understand, why I dont want to tell this little detail. Maybe my english is to week to explain. I think about a aesthetic solution for adjustable pins since over 1 year. I speaked wiht many peoble, I tested various stuff and I wrote to other custom razor makers. Nobody of them, told me how he managed it. Now, after I payed a lot of money (every shipping from the knifeshop to germany cost 36$ only shipping costs), time and a little brain I have found my way.
Since about 2 years, I explain in german forums how I restore razors and make scales. Since a shorter time and with the handicap of my english knowledges I´m also try explain some things here.

    thats all...thx

Actually I understand the situation very well. You can see my experience and how I chose to handle my new found knowledge with the mostly generous members of this forum HERE. Why bother to post your new ideas, experiments, and solutions to common problems if you are going to be so selfish that when asked in more detail you refuse to answer? I asked around plenty when looking for a solution- some knife guys wouldn't say anything, but other generous members of this forum would and lost nothing because of it. I'm sorry that your shipments cost $36 a piece, but that isn't our fault. We come here to learn from each other. Sorry you maybe can't understand that.

I'm not offended and I enjoy the riddle. If Buddel had not told me how he made the scales originally I would still be muddling about. Like making a checkerboard end grain cutting board only better.

The night before this post we were talking about a similar thing and a solution was suggested for a source for internally threaded stainless steel tubing that looks quite promising but I still have to follow up myself and see if it will work.

I love innovation. I'm sure it won't be a mystery for long but Buddel should be allowed to enjoy it for a little bit at least. His latest piece really is good art.

With all the great sharing that goes on here, it's easy to lose sight of the fact that it is pretty unusual for people to in effect tell their competitors all of the tricks of their trade.

I've gotten tons of help from a lot of guys, but every once in a while someone finds something really unusual and wants to keep their source a secret.

I consider respecting their wish a small price to pay for all of the free advice they willingly hand out. Plus it's fun trying to track things down on your own sometimes...

Sorry Buddel and others. I just haven't seen someone ask for help and get shot down like that, so I thought it a little rude, but I can be wrong.

Anyway, great scales and innovations you are coming up with!

It´s ok Alex. Yesterday I was a little unhappy about this discussion, but after a night sleeping over it, i can see this much more relaxed. I´m glad, you see it similar.
