Unhappy My razors blade got chipped. Is there any hope?

I was visiting my friend at college for a week and an associate of his damaged the blade of my Wacker.

There is a chip out of it, with a pair of cracks reaching further back on the blade. This is my first and only razor, so I don't have any experience with this kind of thing. Is there any hope to get it repaired (preferably without wrecking the gold wash and what not)?

Ill get some pictures up soon.

    Thanks very much.

Well, hopefully, when we see the photos it won't be as horrific as it sounds. I don't know what to do about the cracks. But if the chip isn't uber-huge, you can buy a 220 and 600 grit set of stones and start with the 220 to hone it out. might take some time and remember to put electrical tape on the spine of the blade.
    good luck

As in Heribert Wacker, like sold on classic shaving!? How did this associate damage it? I think he owe's you a new blade man. that's complete B.S.

without seeing pictures I'm sure nobody can give a for sure answer. depending on where the chip and cracks are and how extensive sometimes things can be done. from what I've seen though, only when they're at the very tip of the blade, or that first 1/8" or so, can it be repaired to where it looks like it was meant to be that way to begin with. it means grinding away the damaged portion usually. so when close to the tip the tip can just be reshaped and made to look intentional (although it might look too short for the scales). some guys have reshaped the heel of their razors too, I think it is a way to salvage but I've never seen it done that it looked right. IMHO

best bet is to get the associate to replace it.

Chips are one thing cracks are another, please post pics. Preferably close ups of the damage.

Yeah, Wacker as in Mr. Wacker on classic shaving.

Truth be told, I'm not sure how he did it. I wasn't there at the time. Im guessing he hit it on the edge of a table or dropped it on something.

Also, here are (hopefully) some pictures.

Im sorry, but those cracks have ruined the razor IMHO.

looks like it was used as an impromptu screwdriver... or perhaps shave through a piercing?

    that picture makes me sad.

you might be able to save the scales if they're nice.

    sorry

Yeah, it makes me sad to. Not because it was my razor, but because it was such a handsome piece of workmanship, ruined for nothing. GRRR!!
