Thanked: 3215Dude, you have an interesting way getting folks to want to continue to help you.
Every bit of advice you have been given, ignored and are arguing about, is in many of the post on polishing and buffing in the workshop forum.
You don’t find it interesting, that you are the only one that has ever had this problem?
You might want to slow down and do a little reading…

Thanked: 2591I have not buffed knives, only razors. You are not going to learn to drive a car without getting into one. That whole restoration thing is not a skill acquired overnight so if you are going to learn how to do razors start practicing on razors. As I said get a cheap solingen or even a GD and start buffing.

I agree with Mainaman's post - but you might learn a bit more if you get hold of a couple of old razors with pits. It will show you how the greaseless works and just what it's limitations are.
My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.

Thanked: 5Alright... I do have a zy razor. I'll toss that one there today give it a try.
I have some compound I cut from my big chunk in some water getting moist like Euclid had me try... by the way Euclid buddie, i'm not trying to be a jerk but dude you have told me to rake the wheel like 3 times, and every time I have stated that I did, perhaps you are not reading my posts? I've also stated that I am sorry to shoot down peoples ideas and that I really appreciate the help THANK YOU! Its not like I am dis regarding peoples ideas... I have tried it already!
Stated that in the video as well. I don't understand the hostility.
Thanks guys, i'll get back to ya with some pics this week. I'm going to buy that 1100 RPB buffer anyway though, I want a second one!

Thanked: 5HEY EUCLID! That last tip was a good one, I left a hunk of my greaseless sitting in water overnight, its taking to the wheel A LOT better. I definitely think I got a dried out piece of compound. The issue is still there, but its not nearly as bad! check it out... I know this is rough, but I just wanted to quick show that the problem is getting better.
I did the ZY razor like maineman said to try: I know I didn't perfectly buff out the 600, but it was just a test run quick

Why buff with greaseless heal to toe? That blade was originally ground spine to bevel. You are going to round out all the blade profiles. Buff it spine to bevel and I think you'll find the finish looks a little better but it's 600 grit which is a glaze type finish at best. Once you get to the grease based polishing compounds you can cross polish.

Thanked: 5if you go spine to edge, its quite difficult to get the very center of the blade without catching the edge of the razor... or without having to press the razor hard against the wheel and generate a bunch of heat... thats why I did it. I did strokes both ways though.
Plus its an 8 dollar razor jut for practice, but thanks I will try doing what you said more. I just couldn't get consistent scratches right in the center of the hollow grind that wayLast edited by glytch5; 04-18-2016 at 11:43 PM.

Thanked: 5okay I put some marker on the razor, went spine to edge, pressed hard couldn't clear the marker from the center of the bevel, tried turning it over, still couldn't clear from the center of blade. So guess what? Caught the edge, razor is chipped in half....

Thanked: 5I'll try that, i'm making a trip out to caswell tomorrow morning, its like 40 mins away. Going to buy another buffing machine and bunch of wheels and stuff. 2 inch wheels? I guess I could try that! i'm afraid the problem will then be when bringing the razor towards the macine, I will run out of space because of the clearance
