That is a beautiful set of scales Garry. Very original too.
I have to get me some pc-boards and give it a try. I think coating them in CA will preserve them from oxidation and wear and eliminate the need to worry about lead contamination.
Next step, slap on a solar cell, LED's and some circuitry and you can can have really flashy scales.

Hello guys. I hung out here for awhile in 2006 and was the guy that bought this straight razor.
(see first post for great pics)
Just 20 min ago I discovered my straight razor was on boing boing in 2008!
The post inaccurately said I made the straight razor. I never told Cory Doctorow that I did.
Let me back up. I went to Irvine and saw Cory give a talk about copyright and took the razor to show him. He snapped a picture and I checked up on boing boing for awhile then concluded he wasn't going to post the pic. I'm confused about the timing. I bought the razor in 2006. I'm not sure when I saw him but the way I remember it it was 2007? So my first guess is he didn't post it for a year later and didn't remember much about the convo. It's 2011 so I don't remember much of the convo either, but I'm certain I wouldn't tell him I made the razor. Ok, enough freaking out about that.
All credit goes to garythepenman. (I just pulled a steve jobs :O )
here's the old link on boing boing:
