Can you imagine some burglar getting caught in gssixgun's house and ending up as a set of "scales".
Ever been to sandpoint ID? I have, have friends that live in that town,do not think they have burglars in that town, you break into a house in sandpoint, you will be leaving in a box

That is not a joke, I swear when we were house shopping, every single house we looked at that was occupied was armed I told the wife "Honey, I like the way these people think"

    Cool After the Bleach..

These pics are after a few hours of bleach boiling and a bit more cut down to expose the inside of the bone before it started...
The piece is just under 7 inches overall now...

Honestly right here is where you could start the process by simply going to a good pet store and buying a Dog Bone as they start right about where I am at... The dog bones have been steam cleaned and sterilized the only difference is they are Cow and not Bison
But yeah if you wanted to save time start there...

Thanks for sharing - it's always good to see stuff getting made from scratch. My next project in the queue will be fitted with camel bone scales and since there isn't too many camels in my neighbourhood I've taken the easy optin and bought pre-processed.

Look forward to seeing the end result!

Yep every one around the house helps out
I used to use my wife's beef soup bones for scrimshaw (and also elk antler). You could later scrimshaw a design or wildlife on the scales.
