I'm having a hard time getting a razor to a mirror finish with just using my hands I have used 220grit to 320 all the way up to 1500 and I use blue magic and maas and still no mirror shine like I see on the forums so any advice is appreciated

you need to go much higher in the grits.
even then it is not guaranteed you will get perfect mirror as removing the scratches from the previous grit is not trivial with out a buffer.

What I've done is kept sanding till I would replace the old deeper scratches with the new shallower scratches before moving up in grit, but I am always worried about taking off too much metal on full hollow grounds so if the razor is really bad from the start I will leave some imperfections. I have no where near as much experience as most of the people on here though. Also I use wet/dry sandpaper with water.

You can get them shiney, but it takes a buffer and several compounds w/ different wheels to get that mirror you are talking about. It also takes a lot of time and patience as you really, really have to watch the heat. Mirror will show every imperfection in your grind at an oblique angle, actually seems to amplify it.

I have buffed a few blades and honed quite a few more

I have never seen a perfect mirror on a restored Vintage blade, There is always a flaw, or maybe I am just too picky, but one of my pet peeves is the use of the term "Mirror Finish"

JMHO of course and you can call them what you want...

you can get sandpaper up to at least 5000 grit and micro mesh pads up to 12000 grit, they use them alot to make pens and other stuff, also what kind of compound do you have and use?, i bought a sample of all sandpaper grits (1000,2000,3000,5000), he didnt have any more 4000 left in stock when i ordered or i would have gotten that one to. also bought a pack of "micro mesh pads" just to test them (1500,1800,2400,3200,3600,4000,6000,8000,12000), same goes for compounds, i just ordered a pack of all the different compounds in one package. Dont know how they are compared to the 3 (green,Grey,Black) i ordered from SRD thou, but needed for other materials aswell. Hope you get a hang on it, always nice to see new shiny SR

Honestly, I own mostly NOS vintage blades all full - extreme hollows and many are Near Mirror from the factory... another of my pet peeves, sorry, but I have drawers and display cases full of razors to argue that point

Please note the fact I said near mirror I can find flaws on most of them too
