    Looks great.If I could find a source of pure nitric acid I would do a true rust blue,would take a couple weeks to do but I think it would look great.
    I think Wacker used some sort of Plating process,or maybe plasma coating,dunno.

    If you do that make sure to put wax on the edge... a little ways up too! That would be a bugger to hone out me thinks ; ).

    I almost think you would have to do it to a new,un-honed blade with no set bevel.
    It is a controlled rust proceedure and the nitric would take out even a semi-finished edge in a heartbeat.
    Have done shotgun barrels in the past,is an odious amt. of very messy work (not to mention somewhat dangerous).
