Meatchopper Experimental Scales
I finally got another restoration complete.
This one is an Amboyna Burl with sapwood so the scales are two tone without having the hassle of making composites.
I wanted to try a light wood for a meatchopper with a different brass band for the decoration. I had a feeling it would work for these majestic blades. This particular one is an 8/8 George Wostenholm & Sons, IXL razor. The shape is similar to a W&B 8/8.
The pictures are always a pain. I can't get the color completely right. The color of the burl is more redish than orange in the pictures, but I think the result is recognizable:
If you are wondering what it looked like before here is the e-bay auction picture:
I think it cleaned-up nicely.
What do you think of these scales?

That's a beautiful piece of work, Vladsch!
The metal work between the two-tone is something else.

The shape of the scales looks very good with the "Meatchopper" blade; they are wide in a complemetary fashion, and flow well from one end to the other.
The positioning of the third pin with the design and placement of the brass onlay works very well without being awkward-looking or "out of place." The bead on the third pin is an outstanding match from what I can see.
Will this one be for your collection, or sold? Any plans for a matching box?
