I think if a razor is used quite often and not stored for long periods exposed to moisture you shouldn't have many issues with moisture. That is not saying that a razor should be put away soaked in water or have standing water sitting on it.

I am staying away from leather since it retains moisture and does not "breathe". I came to that conclusion after talking with several people who had experience with storing guns and knives. I am talking long term storage, not short term.

Something like the idea of moisture wicking clothing that allows air flow, but pulls moisture away from the razors at the same time. I made one from a pencil roll that I took out every other stitch to fit a razor. Made a nice 7day roll.

I like the roll you made/modified but I would replace the bottom inside cloth with the stuff Skipnord mentioned. Then I could see the whole razor and if I made that bottom inside piece narrower it would still prevent the razor from slipping out from the elastic.

I see where you are going. You want a roll that is also a display case when unrolled right?

BTW, I am thinking of this for long term storage such as 1-2 years. The motivation for this is that I have numerous razors currently in plastic baggies and I am getting nervous about that.

I would oil the razors and put some silica packets in it as well. Would help keep moisture away from the razors.

This may sound silly, but how about a quality shower curtain, some are made of different clear vinyls, plastics, they are flexible, the more costly ones are rubber like & clear. One curtain would give you a lot of practice material.

    Randy,

I've had these for decades and they have stored my razors in perfect condition. The outside is some kind of vinyl/synthetic material.

What I was initially looking for before I saw these pencil rolls was something that had individual little pockets that would cup the bottom 1/2 inch of the razors. Something like the tips of a latex glove that fit snug to the razor, but more sturdy and cloth based.

Very nice. I like those. The bad thing about mine is that the flap doesn't cover the razor so they tend to rub against one another.
