    Thumbs up

    Stefan,
What a fantastic video . Thank you. This is exactly what was missing from SRP. A lot of posts/sites described the process of working with the naguras, but none (that I am aware of) had a visual tutorial. Kudos for doing this and thank you

Twas a lesson from my teacher. Though I think I learned something other than his intended point; namely that, though it is POSSIBLE, it is far from REASONABLE.

At the end I like to finish with water only.
    ....
My personal tomonagura is in the 20-30k, it is a soft Nakayama Tojiro that I got from So.

Tomonagura can be any piece of fine finishing stone as long as it is softer than the base stone, one can also use tmonagura cut from the base stone itself.
    Well done and Bravo, Stefan.

Question: I gather from your description that you're not using slurry from the honzan in the final (pre-water) step, but rather you're creating the last slurry from a (tomo)nagura that may or may not be related to the honzan - in this case, not. Is there a reason that you didn't raise this last slurry directly from the honzan? In other words, why use a tomonagura softer than the base stone in the last slurry step?

    Again - great job!

EDIT - Another thought: Any thoughts on why you chose to not use the koma? Thx.

    Steve,
my only reason to use tomonagura is my honzan is similar in hadness to my bease stone, and takes forever to raise a good slurry.

Does anyone have any idea where to currently get some good Nagura stones online? Everyone I see that sells the stamped ones are not listing them on their sites right now.

Check with Maxim. I just ordered mine from him and I think he's got his new shipment in.
