Excellent videos and thx. for sharing them.
    I have two questions:

    1. How to perform just touch ups (water only or on slurry raised with tomonagura and follow described procedure)
    2. How many shaves until touch up (my razors until now was honed on Coticule so I perform touch ups on water only every 7-10 shaves) but what is with razors honed way like on videos....

    Thx

try on water only , if that does not work well do tomonagura slurry dilution to water.

as far as how many shaves to touch up, well as we all know it depends on beard, razor, how often does one shave etc.

Awesome thread! It seems everywhere is out of nagura stock at the moment... Let me know if anyone hears anything as I'm keen to jump aboard this style of jnat honing.

Awesome - thanks mate - he must've just restocked as they weren't available last week... Just ordered a set with a tomonagura.

Just out of interest guys, what's the concensus re: tomonagura selection with this style of honing?

I'm using a pretty hard and fine Ozuku Asagi as my finisher... I'm assuming you'd want the tomonagura to be slightly softer than the finisher? Hopefully Maksim can make a good match for me...

Thanks mainaman! I think I finally understand the idea behind honing with nagura thanks to your excellent explanation

It certainly looks like an interesting way to hone.

    Default Coverted

Just tried this at home for the first time last night. Maksim came through with the nagura and I took a razor all the way through after initial bevel set on 1k GS.

Still need to experiment with different steel but I'm really loving this method, the edge is super clean and tactile feel of the slurries under the razor is great.

By the way, it should be 'converted' in the subject box.

I'm waiting for my recent order from Maxim to arrive: a set of Botan, Tenjyou and Mejiro. Well I wanted a Koma to complete the set, but was having difficulty finding one. Well I just paid for one!!!

I was very lucky, it's an authentic stamped one, and the price was reasonable so I snatched it up.

I have a hand-held Nakayama Kiita from Alex that I will be using the nagura with, so I am excited to have this nice honing set.
