It's a pretty neat example of how spine wear will keep the bevel at the cutting edge regulated as the metal erodes. Apart from that, it's scrap
The thing I don't get is you have to see a frown developing as you go along at some point, so you would think the higher brain function would kick in at some point where you would adjust your coverage...
Do you think he is asking a bit much??
Antique CUT Throat Hand Forged Bengall Razor Made IN Sheffield England | eBay
edit: the vendor did offer that he would send me the razor for free if I could find another like it :hmmm:
andrew, one? here's two or three

I sent him a pic of my 5... He didn't reply but I did say he could keep his. He took it down but listed it again...
I saw one exactly the same, but better condition going for 14 pounds (about $25ish) on eBay UK...
Except the giant one that starts at the shoulder and goes to the front 1/3 of the blade lol
Saw this. Took a bit to realize. Looking under the tang, looks like a line down the middle. 2 stamped pieces put together?
Seller states it is brand new. What a lot of trouble for what?

Oh no! It is a copy, a reproduction. Authentic Wostenholm stamp. 45 bucks BIN. Probably for reenactment or decor.

Funny part is, seller states it is new, never used! :rofl2:
That just looks very nasty. Would not use to shave. Looks like it would crack apart and the like. At least it's brand new and never used right, let's hope it stays that way.
You don't have to scour the internet for your classic half smiling razor such as this:

You can now get your smirking razor ready made:

Hart - you make me laugh. :rofl2:
Just gross.

Amazing what you can do with an angle grinder and a dremel wire brush.
Are those rivets?
Gosh! What a beautiful razor! Oh, just put my glasses on. I'd call it a best buy for the myopic. I'm going to go watch some stupid Youtube stuff to get that image out of my brain.
Thanks Hart. I think you have just provided us with the perfect example of why knife guys aren't necessarily the same as SR guys. There is overlap.... but not in this case.
The seller says:I put the clues in bold and underline. I point out "shave ready" because everything else points to a knife guy. And they describe a really sharp knife as "shavin' sharp" to imply it is sharp enough to shave with. Who's willing to bet he didn't take it beyond 4-6k??Quote:
For sale is a fully restored, shave ready Wade and Butcher Bow Blade Straight Razor. It was fitted with a Custom anodized Titanium handle. The hardware is stainless steel and the spacer is acrylic. Mirror Finish blade. This is a sweet razor that really stands out and it comes 100% shave ready. I will include a vinyl carry pouch with the purchase.
Knife guy! I think you hit it, who else would use bars of titanium for scales. If you look at the other pics in the auction you have to wonder how he can kid himself that it has a mirror finish, it's so obviously full of grind marks he can't possibly think anyone would be fooled. For honing, I can imagine the seller holding it at the proper 20° angle and sawing away with it.
:rofl2:
Really though, I'd qualify things by saying "bad knife guy" or "wanna be". There are plenty of knife makers who could do justice to a razor.
Happy Memorial Day .Here is today's shame

How did you do that?
I did not make it to Minn.
Going to try to have one here this fall.
This can be yours for a mere Benjamin. Scratched scales and all.

Old post...I know but try living with the name Robin. "Most" of the time here, in the States, it's a woman's name but, lucky me, I was born in England and my parents decided to bestow this decidedly androgynous name upon me. It could have been worse...I understand that Robin Hood Osborn was also in consideration. Thankfully, I have been able to go by Rob most of my life and when people decide they want to use my full "given" name they often mistakenly say Robert instead of Robin. One bonus is all of this is that if I receive mail addressed to Ms. Robin Osborn I know that the originator of the mail has no idea who I am and it immediately goes in the trash.
Don't. Get me started on names. My eldest brothers name is Thomas. The middle brother is Richard. I'm the baby and my name is Harold.
Tom, Dick & Harry in order.
Mom and Dad swore they didn't realize that, but I'm not sure I belive them lol
Feel sorry for my transplanted Brit friend April Dawn. last name!!!!
Changed it to Avril Donald. last name.
and of course my friend Beverly Jenkins.
Wow

I'm tempted to buy it; I'd bet I could hone one on it - if it really is a razor grade stone. it's the wrong shape for a conventional barber's hone.

No, Guys. I call that an oil-soaked, dished India. Many times a knife was across it. No razors, Please! :rofl2:
