Phrank
I saw a razor with a blade busted like that, or maybe worse, at an antique store. When I opened it and saw the blade was shot, the store owner/employee basically told me the steel was good and if the damage was ground out it would be worth another $75-100.
That's about as good as this one Phrank.

That should just buff out right?
Bud k is branching into making fine razors in addition to their famous pocket knives...Attachment 209710
I thought they had been making straights a long time. You're saying they just started?
When the rust is really deep and localized like (where the blade is under the scales), isn't that red flag for celluloid rot??
I saw a DD (Satinedge I believe) at a shop that looked like that. It wasn't sure if the scales were safe to use and the blade would have been shot if you took all the rust off, so I didn't try to get it. That may have been why most of the razors in the case were so rusted!
I would say that it is a good indication of cell rot especially with those "Ice" scales. If the scales are horn of some other natural material then I would suspect neglect and a high moisture environment.
The last two evenings I found 3 Ahem "Heat treated" razors on Ebaayyyy, what caused the heat? my guess?? is hippies hot knifing hashish or maybe the blades could have been heated to sterilize for minor surgery on animals or humans?
Whatever the reason , the ads were deceptive for those who do not know steel.
Next in the unscrupulous scumbag seller tricks? for me it would have to be Photography.
If I had to write out all the borderline tricks seen in the last week alone it would take several hours. GAWWD I HATE Greedy people. Not much difference between Greedy and Desperate.
In the future, I predict the Greedy will only be good for target practice.

Sorry for link only.
They say this is a barber's notch... shows what I know! Lol
That's so funny, the same question popped into my head!
Dishonest jerks? Stupid? Out of touch? A joke???
If one asserts an idea, perhaps they should know a little bit about it! Just a little.
Yeah this thread should be homework before one enters the scandalous world of eBay.
After another messaging session with the seller They have also modified the main description, they were very polite and thanked me for setting them straight, they even asked for a fair starting price for the item. I don't think this seller is being deliberately deceptive, just not really sure of what she is selling.
Not sure if I posted this:

I made an offer for $2.25 with shipping included... Yeah, I wasn't in the best mood that day. They responded in a frank way saying "Dont joke around :)" I honestly think this guy has no clue.
I checked his other listings, same thing , some items about price someone who just really wants it, some items he is looking to cheat an idiot... light this one you gave link to..
What fool would buy that? And what greedy cheat would try to sell it at that price?
Some people defend such, saying "hey if someone's dumb enough"... but that does not fly in my book. Not good.
But hey, maybe this seller is out of touch..?
I checked only now... wow!
I have one of these, so I guess if I sold them for say $150 (cos they're better lookin), I could help finance my next hone purchase [emoji12]

Might find one of these among moms jewlery, left from grandma (only in actual amber, not bakellite).. make a small fortune:

But to get back on topic, another one from the same seller, DE this time:

It amazes me how much some people will ask for something just because it is "old" or they check for previous listings and see the highest price listed and mark theirs slightly lower even though they don't notice the fact that none were actually sold at those prices or anywhere near those prices. My mother is "old" so I wonder how much I could get for her. I really hope she doesn't see this. I am going to have to make a phone call now.
How's that old song go:
"I am the God of Hell Fire...and I bring you....."

Think this is the guy who did the mods on this razor:

It is a great set of scales and collars. The shipping is very high. I don't think I would buy with the landed cost that high and the exchange being rather poor right now makes it too much for the scales. There is no guarantee they will be reasonably straight. The blade is way over done. Now it is just a sad memory of what it once was.
The pitting is quite heavy near the spine, but the thing that concerns me the most is the large crack near the toe.
You guys are just to picky....:rofl2:
It seems to me I see a lot more "fishing" posts than I used to on eBay. People posting pure rubbish and knowing it but patiently waiting for a stupid fish...yeah, it's always gone on, but this type of post seems more prolific over the last months. Lots of fluff, and not very damned much razor. And not just little "screw you" $30 Kriegers. I mean the $400 "Limited Edition" Pakastani RSO's. It seems the charlatans are becoming aware of the (unethical) financial opportunities rising with the popularity of the hobby.
Continue windy rant here...

Shame on me, for trusting the seller on this one and not reading more, before making impulse purchases. Live and learn... just a pretty Washita.
My sincere thanks go to Doorsch and Vasilis, who helped me identify the stone.
Your welcome. I thought I would check since the tone of your other post sounded like you thought yourself stuck with it.
Okay, is that blade supposed to be that short or was it ground down?
I want to message them about the fact they put "perfect condition" and "no rust" in the description, but there is no way they could have missed the rust and wear on the razor. What does "rare Solingen" mean? Are they claiming there wasn't many razors made in Solingen or just referring to the company?

I like the scales, but what with the exchange rate an' all...
This seller has a bunch of SR he's been listing, some priced not too bad IF you specifically want one for collection, most not cheap, and some simply ridiculously priced.
It's almost as if he is completely out of touch, but that might be giving too much credit, there's likely an element of greed involved.
