Ok this is the ultimate in stubbyAttachment 187668
But at least it has a smile
I don't know if I would call that shame so much as probably the owner was making the best of a bad situation. You can clearly tell it was honed at the length. It probably broke and the man that owned it might have been hard up or it was his favorite razor and did what he could so he could still use it.
So am I missing something on this old Southern Gentleman? Bids up to 740.00!

Box is sort of ratty
Methinks it is halves of two boxes. Neither correct? Must be some rare celluloid?
Only ivory would warrant those type of bids.
Half Winchester. Half Suredge. MUST be ivory!
It has an Eagle and a naked lady. What more else would you want?:D
Yes. Also, she IS riding a little unicycle too! Now THAT"S a trick! :p
I think the Goddess Helena?
Have we not discussed the winged wheel rider before? And that is the first set of cell scales like that I have ever seen. You can be sure its price is collectors battling.
Yes, I remember it too. Some goddess, IIRC. I think the wheel had wings?

This is here because of the idiot seller. "I tried to clean it, but I don't have the right tools." What is it about eBay sellers that possesses them to take 60 grit paper or worse in this case to a blade thinking knocking off a bit of oxidation, damn the consequences?
Nothing 20-50 hours of hand sanding from 120 grit or less wouldn't fix
Ah the cramping I can feel it now LOL
By not having the right tools, Is that code for I took a dremmel stone wheel to it?? Tip looks like it got mangled too.
Yea, that is dremmel damage no doubt. ruined a perfectly wonderful original razor. Sure it can be salvaged, but if he went too deep down near the bevel anyplace, it might not all come out. Makes me sad.
I have a similar one to this guy with scratches all over it, incoming. Thought it might make an interesting restoration project. :) Mine looks to be sandpaper marks, rather than dremel, so I am hoping it wont be that hard to sand out. I do have quite the array of sandpaper lined up to get started, though!
I bought a Robeson a couple months ago (unique model that I had never seen before). It looked good in the pics, almost no pitting with great striped scales. When it arrived, I discovered about an 1/8 wide strip at the entire edge had vertical grinding marks on it. It had not been discernible in the pics.I worked it and worked it always careful to keep clear of the etching just above. In the end, I quit before I was able to get all the marks out. i can still see some with magnification. Razor honed fine and looks pretty good, but there was no excuse for the treatment it had received!
I send em notes like,,,
" Hey you know if somebody hadn't been so stupid as to mark that rare razor up with grinder marks I would have paid a thousand for it. Do you have any others ? "" :rofl2:
Here is another " If that's NOS my Cocker/Pitbull is pure bred ""
Sorry if any of you guys got a note from me :<0)
if i ever list another W&B im gonna say it so rare ! just as rare as the 20 others on here everyday ..lol
Geesh.. $1,275 BIN
