Fillys Just About Out of Reach
I have a few #13 Fillys and love how they shave. I'd been trying to pick another one up with scales in something other than black for a few weeks ow. I keep seeing auctions from that seller in Spain and the one in South America but kept missing them by one or two bids.
So I decided to just bid high and get the #13 with the red scales that ended a few hours ago. Woah! That thing just sold for $275! Two weeks ago the same razor with red scales went for $190. Seems I may have missed the boat in getting more Fillys! Hope it was just a bidding war. I had the high bid 2 hours before it closed today. I'd pay $200 for a red or white scaled #13 in perfect shape but $275 had been the going rate for a #14. Hope I haven't missed out. And out of curiosity I looked to see how much the red scaled #14 went for that closed about the same time - $361.91. Wow. Sure wish I was sitting on those piles of NOS Fillys those two guys seem to have!
Edit: Just looked and there's a plain black scaled #14 that closes in an hour or so and it's sitting at $406 at the moment. This is s bit like trading futures contracts! I can't sense if this is an aberration that will pass shortly or if Fillys are about to cross the $500 level and sit there for a bit. Recession my a@$!Last edited by AirColorado; 08-31-2009 at 09:10 PM.

it does require some patience. But you can get some reasonable deals from time to time.
FILARMONICA 13 Old Spanish straight razor blue NOS. - eBay (item 230370049466 end time Aug-25-09 14:30:00 PDT)
That took me a few weeks to find. I think I bid on a dozen before getting one.
Patience and discipline!

You're right of course. I'm wondering if this is a blip in price or if we've gotten so crazy that these will stay up over $250 for the rest of the year. I'm going to take the approach that this was pent up frustration and they'll be back to Earth soon.

It costs more to win an auction on the weekend.

Thanked: 293I got mine (#14 PBD) over a month ago and I paid into the 200's for it. But it's my best shaver and every time I use it I'm stupified at how sharp it is (thanks to Max, mostly, I'm sure). But they hold their edge like a champ and they're a pleasure to use.

I wonder who started the whole Fil #14 frenzy?
Darn good shavers and gorgeous to boot.

I used to think, "Yeah, OK. But for every Filarmonica going for $350 - $400, there's a probably a few nice Bokers or Robesons getting ignored, at a nice price."
I used to think that...
