If cancer really is an issue here, it's a reason and not an excuse. I'd be hesitant about leaving negative feedback.

Let it go, it's okay. And reevaluate what you think are the shipping costs. It's not double the actual cost. As you are discovering the most expensive and time consuming part is getting the razor boxed and to the mailbox.

If, indeed, the cancer is real, then a delay is understandable.
I deal with chronic illness daily and there are times when surviving my work day is all I can do. I pass two post offices on my way to work but unless I leave work early they both close before I pass them.

And, quite honestly, 6.50 for shipping is reasonable. If they ship flat rate plus tracking they're losing money. If they're shipping another method they can't be more than a buck or so above break even. I know when I've shipped razors out shipping is right about 6 bucks.

I know there are scammers out there, but the reply you received seems genuine. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't be quick to leave negative feedback. Of course you could mention the delay in shipping (I know I would, along with a note that the seller was also dealing with a family situation).

As far as shipping costs, I don't think they're unreasonable at all. A small flat rate box is what, $5.75 to ship? I don't think 75¢ is too much to ask for their packing supplies and the time/expense to run to the post office. Besides, as someone else pointed out, you were aware of the shipping cost before bidding on the item.

on the shipping and handling time it says DELIVERED in 7 to 8 days....

when i sell something on ebay i ship either the same day *(if the usps is still open) or the next business day *(after receiving cleared payment).... i have sold to members of this forum..

what i want to know is i want to rip them a new one for

#3 not doing what was promised in the auction....

    am i being too harsh?

i ask the opinion of the masses....
I don't believe the cancer BS . Cancer or not , once a seller has your money , the item is no longer theirs , it's yours , and it's their responsibility to ship it to you ASAP . No if's , and's or but's . Just my opinion .

Ouch! Sorry if I offend, but you must not have experience in cancer tests and treatments, or having 4 80+ parents! Along with a pile of kids? Folks give up working hours to be caregivers and parents! It is grueling and should not be taken lightly. I wonder how many ebayers are in this boat, trying to make ends meet? My point is things happen to good people! It is not always a thief or a liar at the other end! Just my Honest Opinion, Tom

Tell her you have cancer too, now you just lost 2 weeks off your last six months because she didn't ship your dream razor because of her...But first check her feed back..

I recon i can top your eBay story!

I won two "The Torrey" straight razors on eBay for about half of what there 'buy now' price was. Anyway a few weeks later i received the parcel and it only came with one...... Anyway i sent an e-mail to the seller asking where it was and i got this reply

Hi, I am very sorry for the delay in replying to your email, but had a very bad night and day today.
My dog has not been feeling or acting right the past few days and starting have seizures and had to
take her to the vet. I have never experienced anything thing like this, very sad.

Anyway, I do also appologize for this. I gather my items for packaging in the evenings and package
them all at once in my garage. I guess I just grabbed the razor and I either thought it was in
there with it or didn't notice that this was the listing with the blade. I had razor on my list but
    not the blade. Sorry
I recently have construction going on, adding on for more room and my items got shifted around. I went
to where my razors are to get the blade it is not there. I have searched high and low thinking it may
of slipped down somewhere but I am unable to locate it. Unless it got misplaced during the shifting
    around of my items.
I know this sounds like a bunch of rig a mon row, but it is the honest truth. I try very hard to keep
my items organized and in order so something like this would not happen, but it did, and I appologize.
I will be happy to give you a partial refund or you can mail it back to me and I will give you a full
refund. I will wait to hear back from you on what you would like me to do.
Again, I am very sorry for the confusion and error. Thank you, Annette
I replied to the seller and said no problems and to have a look after they sort there stuff out. I recieved an e-mail a week later with this.

Hi, thank you for your understanding and patience. Unfortuantly, my dog got much worse and the
seizures got worse and she passed away. It has been a very tramatic pass couple of days for me.
It just seems so unfair and very difficult thing to go through. This dog was one of the best and
smartest dogs we have ever had, she was like part of the family. Just can't understand how she can
be just fine one day and so sick the next. The vet guessed it to be a brain tumor due to the multiple
    seizures.
I am kind of brain dead right now, but the first thing that came to mind was $10.00 refund. If this ok with you
let me know, or if you had something other in mind, please let me know. I will wait to hear back from you.
Thanks again, and sorry for the delay. Have a great day. Annette
I'm a sucker when it comes to this stuff so i said don't worry and left it at that..... I don't know if it was real or fake but i feel uncomfortable when people are in a situation's like that.. Thinking about it now i should have tried to get the second blade or the partial refund offered.

Hi, that is very kind of you. I appretiate it. I do have more than enough on my plate right now,
but time will heal, just not as fast as I would like it to.
I will eventually find this blade and when I do I will make sure you get it. I am so very sorry about
this whole mess. Have a great day and thank you again, Annette
@ sharptonn - Thanks for the reminder anyway, i just send en e-mail to see if they found the second blade lol

Things could be worse, almost two weeks ago I mailed a 200$ razor back to its owner via USPS Priority, the same day I sent a strop to someone else. Neither party has received their item.

i mail razors quite often.... i live in miami and recently sold a razor to someone in california..... padded envelope was 1.19$.... shipping WITH tracking number was 2.87$...... = $4.06

i don't have a problem with someone making a extra dollar or two or three even to cover gas time etc....

    BUT...

this seller also has a negative feedback about SLOW shipping......

like i said.... i ain't trying to be a dick....

but... if you say you are going to mail something DELIVERED TO ME in 7 to 8 days..... don't mail it on the 7th day....

just sayin... a email would have solved all.... just a "having personal problems please be patient with me"....

i have sent a email such as that when i sold a cell phone... went to ship it and my wife had put it somewhere and she was out of town.... i sent a immediate email to the buyer and there was no issue... *(to be fair i found the phone the following day and got it in the mail)

but when i buy something it is no longer the sellers property.. and they have a responsibility to get it to me as quickly as possible....

    IMHO...
