Welcome bloodlet...I mean 430pat. If it keeps up buy stock in Johnson & Johnson. In all seriousness tho, two things come to mind. One, how much pressure are you applying to your face with the razor. Someone once said, "Shave the lather, not the face". Skin stretching and light pressure can help alleviate that problem. Two, what style point on your razor, round or square? Square points are the hardest to learn to use because they do nick a lot. And that's often due to a momentary lack of concentrating on where your razor is on your face at that time. It happens to a lot of us, despite years of use.
It's a series of small ajustments as you progress and suddenly you will realize that you haven't nicked yourself in a while."The sharpening stones from time to time provide officers with gasoline."

You will get past the constant cuts an nicks. BUT it will never be fully gone I don't believe. An edwinM the tops of my ears are both scarred from learning to use a spike point. That freaking hurts too.

If you have a chance, you also might try skipping the shave every once and a while when you are starting out, giving your skin a chance to heal.
Many times you end up re-cutting the same spot, hitting that healing scab that just so happens to hang out in blade range....
And it gets better...and its hard to do because its' worth it...

When I started I thought the small styptic pencil would be plenty... HA
I used the small and a whole large one. Purchased another large so I would have a back up and have only needed it a few times since.
After the intial scarring your face gets tougher . no really it gets easier and you stop setting the blade against your skin at angles that will cut.

It is against the SRP rules to ask for blood in the forum. You can put an ad in the WTB ( want to buy) section of the classifieds though ....
Kidding aside, if you haven't read this give it a look ;

430pat,
I don't know what you are doing to have that many cuts after 15 shaves. I can only assume . . .
1. Rushing your shave.
2. Lacking concentration.
3. Excessive pressure.
4. Wrong angle, perhaps too steep.
5. Mediocre preparation.
6. Not a shave ready razor.
7. Improper stretching.
8. Not stretching.
Obviously something is wrong with this picture. Yes, initially nicks are part of learning this craft. From what I gather, you're having a nicking party. This should not be. Please review what I have noted above and make the proper adjustments. That might help. Thanks.

Thanked: 433After my first 30 shaves I rarely cut myself. I cut my fingers more doing restorations and honing than I do my face shaving. Practice and a light touch and correct angles help avoid cuts.
